RED!

If you know me, you know red is my favorite color, and, I'm passionate about it!

I've had red cars, wear red clothes, have red purses, dishes and appliances. I have a red leather loveseat and a red table top. If I'm shopping, there's a good chance, if given the choice, I will choose the red one.

What is it about red? It's exciting, bold and grabs your attention immediately. Ambulances and fire trucks are often red. Tomatoes, cherries, strawberries, chili peppers, poppies, roses and blood are all red. Red is the international color of stop signs and stop lights. Red is a prominent color in many flags. It is a primary color in the RGB color model.

According to Wikipedia: Red pigment made from ochre was one of the first colors used in prehistoric art. The ancient Egyptians and Mayans colored their faces red in ceremonies; Roman generals had their bodies colored red to celebrate victories.  In the Renaissance, the brilliant costumes for the nobility and wealthy were dyed red.

Since red is the color of blood, it has historically been associated with sacrifice, danger, and courage. Modern surveys in Europe and the United States show red is also the color most commonly associated with heat, activity, passion, sexuality, anger, love, and joy. In China, India and many other Asian countries it is the color symbolizing happiness and good fortune.

Red has been adopted in many military and sports uniforms and religious attire. One thing is certain, if you're wearing red, you will be noticed! Dorothy's slippers were changed from silver in the books, to red for the movie because they would stand out more.

If your favorite color is red, you're likely to be extroverted, optimistic, courageous and confident. Read my blog post about what YOUR favorite color choice says about you.

For me, red is excitement, passion and energy. It is LIFE. That's why I like to surround myself with red objects. I even

had red walls in my bedroom for a time.

So whether you love red, like me, or you hate it, one thing is certain. You can't ignore it!
